Meet Lindsay and Will Henry from the University of Virginia. Their love story begins years after their first meeting . . .
KC: How did you meet? Where?
L & WH: We met during our first year in Emmet dormitory at the University of Virginia. I lived exactly two floors above him and played volleyball with his roommate, Jake. When I went to grab Jake to play one day, I met his roommate, Will Henry. We probably exchanged two sentences with each other. I didn't see him again until a couple years later when I recognized his face in a Physics class. We became fast friends and started dating the next semester. He was planning the engagement ring only two months after we started dating. ;)
"Our first "official" date at my Parent's Formal for my sorority, Gamma Phi Beta."
KC: What significance does the University of Virginia hold for you?
L & WH: UVA is like its own character in our love story. From meeting in Old Dorms, becoming friends in the Physics building, and then getting engaged in the historic gardens, many of our relationship milestones are shaped by the university.
"Our dog Emmy: we joke her full name is "Emmet Jefferson Mullins" in honor of our mutual first year dorm (Emmet) and Thomas Jefferson, UVA's founder. Her AKC official name is "Edlyn's Good Old Song", which is a reference to UVA's school song."
KC: Do you think you would have ever met if it weren't for your school? Why or why not?
L & WH: Probably not! We grew up forty minutes away from each other, but our paths never crossed before UVA. The Air Force whisked him away to Mississippi after graduation, so if we hadn't met before then, I would've missed out on my best friend for life.
"Our wedding at King Family Vineyards just outside of Charlottesville. We figured our Charlottesville was where we fell in love, so it's where we wanted to get married. We even had a UVA themed rehearsal dinner"
KC: What's your favorite thing to do together? Why?
L & WH: Raise our family. Because of UVA, we have three special little kiddos we get to raise together! Even though it's a lot of work, we know there's no more important work we'll ever do. When we're off duty, we like to workout together, play cards, explore outside, and catch up on naps.
KC: What advice would you give incoming first-years about meeting other people and relationships/friendships?
Be willing to put yourself out there! A chance encounter may bring you to someone very special. We laugh because my husband is the more outgoing of the two of us, but I'm the one who recognized him and said "hi" first in our Physics class, and I'm so glad I did.
Huge thanks to Lindsay and Will Henry for sharing their Love Story with us! We can't wait to see your love (and kiddos) continue to grow and flourish <3
