On this segment of 36 Hours In… I had the pleasure of interviewing Mrs. Reagan Tull, a sophomore at Auburn University. Together, her and I will be taking you through the five must see locations when visiting Auburn, Alabama.
Reagan is a sophomore finance major with a minor in Spanish. She is a member of the Delta Sigma chapter of Delta Gamma where she is a part of the new member crew which helps transition new members fully into the sorority. She is also a member of the Financial Management Association, Women in Business, and participates in intramural sports. She loves to be active and to explore the great outdoors as well as discover new food spots around her area.
To start her weekend off in a small celebration, Reagan goes to a local spot called Tumors Drug Store. They serve delicious lemonade and ice cream and have been in operation for many many years. They have multiple flavors so you can customize them to your liking. Reagan likes to bring her lemonade to Samford Lawn to sit and enjoy the view.
Samford Lawn is the central point of Auburn campus. It houses Samford Hall, the inspiration for Kyle Cavan’s Auburn line. The building is now used solely for administrative purposes but is still just as iconic. The lawn in front of the hall is where many students come to picnic, play games, or just relax and read. When Auburn wins a football game, the student body participates in something called “rolling tumors”. Rolling tumors is more simply put as toilet papering the trees on Samford lawn. Reagan describes it as “a peaceful place in the midst of all the college hecticness”. She likes to go on picnics and coffee dates here.
Continuing on the wave of outdoor activities, another spot Reagan recommends is The Arboretum. The Arboretum is on the backside of campus and is a big park trail area filled with plants native to Alabama. Reagan says, “its very relaxing because you feel like you’re in the middle of the woods, not a college campus”. Her favorite activity to do here is go on runs to keep active in the midst of school life.
After a nice run, Reagan likes to go to a local Alabama restaurant called Taco Mama for fuel. I personally have been to Taco Mama and I can tell you guys that she has made a great choice in this restaurant. The place is super well known, right off campus near Tumor’s Corner, and a great way to connect with people in the community. Her go to order is The Judge Burrito with a side of queso and guacamole.
The last spot Reagan has recommended is Charming Boutique in downtown Auburn. The store focuses on local clothing that represents Auburn but may not necessarily be traditional Auburn merch. Reagan loves the accessories here and has bought many different pairs of earrings for game days. The boutique screams southern charm and is very popular with the sorority girls, they even put together rush outfits on mannequins at the beginning of the year to give some inspiration to those choosing to go through rush during their college time.
Auburn is definitely a place full of southern charm that has become home to people from all over the country for their college years and beyond. It gives that small town feel with that big time school and is truly a place you guys should check out!
