Meet Karlie and Jada from the University of Kentucky. They are both currently working towards their degrees in nursing and are actual bestie goals – from HS to college!

KC: How did you meet? Where?

K & J: We actually went to the same high school for 3 years in a small town in Kentucky. I moved to Kentucky during covid so we didn’t have a traditional school year without masks til my senior year of high school. Me and Jada were on the cheer team together senior year and found out we both committed to Kentucky to stay close to family. Out of convenience and both not knowing many other people we decide to be roommates without even knowing each-other. We spoke a total of 5 times before moving in together freshman year. However, on the first day of moving in together, after our parents had left, we sat for hours taking in our common area. Ever since that day we’ve been inseparable. We are both Juniors in nursing school together now!

KC: What significance does University of Kentucky hold for you?

K & J: UK has truly been the greatest blessing. This school introduced me to people that I know will be life long friends and truly opened me up to become the person I was meant to be.

KC: Do you think you would have ever met if it weren't for your school? Why or why not?

K & J: I truly don’t think me and Jada would have ever been more than an awkward wave at the local grocery store if it wasn’t for UK. If it weren't for the convenience of us being from the same town and both not being able to find a roommate I would have never met my best friend.

KC: What's your favorite thing to do together? Why?

K & J: Our favorite thing to do together is go watch Kentucky Basketball games!

KC: What advice would you give incoming first-years about meeting other people and relationships/friendships?

I think me and Jada would both tell incoming freshman to take a risk and go up to someone and introduce yourself. Freshman year can be intimidating coming to a new place without your family but everyone is in the same boat and taking that leap of faith and asking someone’s name or asking the random girl on your cheer team to be your roommate could lead to you meeting your best friend!!

Major thanks to Karlie and Jada for sharing your love story (truly bff goals!) We can't wait to see where your friendship takes you next <3
