Meet Elizabeth and Lewis from the Mississippi State University. They graduated together in May 2012! Elizabeth majored in Communications and Public Relations, and Lewis majored in Kinesiology.

KC: How did you meet? Where?

E & L: We met on my now husband's 21st birthday, at his off-campus apartment birthday party. Turns out, we were neighbors and had mutual friends!

KC: What significance does Mississippi State University hold for you?

E & L: Mississippi State University brought us together and is where our love story bloomed! We spent our junior and senior years dating, walking to campus together, going to games together, supporting each other's involvement in other school activities. As alumni, we were engaged on campus at the Chapel of Memories before a home State football game (we won the game!).

My husband walked me to the Chapel before the game, and in the courtyard he said "wouldn't you like to get married here?" and I said "Of course!", then he dropped to one knee! I am from North Mississippi and my husband is from Central Mississippi, so State was the perfect place for our families to meet in between. In 2015, we were married in the Chapel of Memories, our bulldog dreams come true! MSU was a large theme throughout our wedding celebrations. Now, we have a son (and one more on the way). We were thrilled to bring our son to campus for the first time last year where we located our campus brick and took our little man to the Chapel of Memories. That was an unforgettable and priceless moment for us!

KC: Do you think you would have ever met if it weren't for your school? Why or why not?

E & L: I like to think that it was meant to be exactly as it happened. A mutual friend of ours set us up, whom we both met at Mississippi State. Maybe we would have eventually found each other otherwise, but I'm glad it happened as soon as it did.

KC: What's your favorite thing to do together? Why?

E & L:  Now we live in North Florida on the beach, and our favorite thing to do together is hunt for seashells on the beach. Besides that, we have enjoyed introducing our son to MSU football and ringing our cowbells as we watch every game!

KC: What advice would you give incoming first-years about meeting other people and relationships/friendships?

My advice would be to be open to meeting all kinds of new people from all over the country and even world and get involved + don't be afraid of embarrassment. Entering college is such an opportunity to gain a new understanding of who you are and who you want to be. Say YES, have FUN, choose people that make your side hurt from laughter and hold your hand when you need support. I graduated 14 years ago and have gained my most treasured friendships and memories from MSU.

Thank you Elizabeth and Lewis for sharing your amazing MSU Love story with us! We can't wait to see where you go next <3
