Meet Jonni Rogers – head coach of the UMiami Sunsations. She got her start in coaching and choreography as UC Berkeley's Dance Coach and then was an NFL Oakland Raiderette for more than a decade! Most recently, she coached the Sunsations through the 2026 UDA College Nationals marking a historic advancement to the Division I Jazz Semifinals, being the only private institution to reach that stage. Jonni is such an inspiration and we're so excited to have had a chance to chat!

What's a Moment After Grad that Really Shaped You?
Watching my dancers graduate every year is something that always shapes me. It’s
bittersweet—I miss them so much, but at the same time, I’m so proud knowing they’re about to go do incredible things. Seeing them step into the next chapter with confidence reminds me why I do what I do.
How has Your Idea of Success Changed Over Time?
Success has become something much more personal to me. It’s not about titles or outside validation—it’s about what you’re proud of, the impact you make, and the life you build for yourself.
What Jewelry do You Wear Every Day? Why?
I wear my Cartier rings every day because they were my first big purchase after finally feeling financially stable—they mean a lot to me. I also always have on my “U” University of Miami Kyle Cavan necklace and gold hoop earrings.
What's One Piece of Advice You Would Give Future Graduates?
Stay independent and true to yourself and your goals. Focus on what you need and what you want—your dreams matter, and you deserve to go after them fully.
