Meet Florida State University grad student Kate D'Amario. She earned her bachelor's degree in Retail Entrepreneurship last year and is already working on her master's degree in Social and Sustainable Entrepreneurship! Kate has a passion for sustainability and hopes to implement it in her future career.

We sat down with Kate to learn more about her goals and where she's heading.

How did you graduate in 3 years, was this always your plan?

Definitely not my plan! I ended up having enough college credits by taking AP classes in high school, so I was able to apply to my major a year early, and it was only a two year program.

What advice do you have for new grads?

Take your time! Don’t feel like you need to know exactly what you are doing career wise as soon as you graduate. You have your whole life to find your dream job!

What job do you hope to get with your Social and Sustainable Entrepreneurship Master's?

I’m not exactly sure yet, I’ve had an interest in the fashion industry as long as I can remember. I also love travel and culture so applying sustainability to a career in hospitality also interests me!

Did you have any Past Internships that led you to want to pursue this Master's Degree?

Yes! I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to complete an internship with a fashion rental start-up company in Paris, France called Podium. The core of the business is to promote a circular economy and this experience solidified my decision to further study sustainability and explore innovative ways to implement it.

What's your fave FSU memory so far?

It has to be my study abroad experience with FSU in Florence, Italy. The program I chose was Fashion and Sustainability where we got to visit and learn from several Italian designers and artisans. I fell in love with the Italian lifestyle so much that my roommate and I plan to move back there in the fall.
