5 Minutes with Izzy Orvis, USC

Each summer, we invite a select few creatives to intern with us. It's not only a moment for networking and career opportunities, it's an amazing experience in the heart of NYC. We’re so excited to introduce University of Southern California junior and our Strategy Intern, Izzy Orvis!

Why did you decide to intern at Kyle Cavan?

I decided to intern at Kyle Cavan because I was genuinely inspired by its mission and foundation. As a female-founded company, it represented values of empowerment and entrepreneurship that resonated with me. I was already a fan of the product and knew many other students who loved and wore their jewelry, which made the brand feel familiar and authentic. Additionally, I was excited by the opportunity to work in a startup environment where I could take on meaningful responsibilities and actually see the impact of my contributions.

What's your fave thing about NYC (so far!)?

The diversity of people. I see so many different people on my walk to work, I live with people with a variety of jobs & majors, and I work with people with many different styles. I appreciate that there is no “normal” here and it’s encouraged to be true to your interests. 

Who is your style inspo and why?

I absolutely love Jane Birkin. She always looks so chic while looking effortless. I believe it’s her personality- she can make a T-shirt and jeans look like something you’ve never seen before with a radiant positive energy.

What advice do you have for incoming first-years?

This is your time to join clubs, meet people, and really explore your interests that you may not have had the opportunity to do before. Stay curious in all aspects of your first year - socially, academically, athletically - and stay motivated to try new things.

Who is your biggest life inspiration and why? 

My biggest inspiration is my mom. She’s faced many barriers in achieving her goals, but she’s always worked incredibly hard to overcome them. What inspires me most is how she does it all with such positivity, energy, and presence. No matter how busy or challenging things get, she shows up fully for the people around her and leads with strength and grace. Her resilience and mindset are qualities I try to emulate every day.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I hope to break into strategy consulting while getting into the analytical side of marketing!
